En 1858, les anglicans d'Odanak n’avaient pas de révérend. La même année, un missionnaire, le révérend Joseph de Mouilpied officie un mariage à Sorel. La mariée est abénaquise et 50 membres de la communauté assistent à la cérémonie. De Mouilpied visite Odanak le dimanche suivant afin d’y prêcher en français, procédant ainsi aux trois services habituels. Pendant le service du soir, presque autant d’autochtones catholiques que d'anglicans sont présents. Dans les années suivantes, la mission de la St.Francis' Anglican Church est dûment constituée. En 1862, durant le séjour d’Octave Fortin, premier missionnaire résident, on construit l’église anglicane actuelle grâce à des dons, notamment une contribution de la reine Victoria.

In 1858, the Anglicans of Odanak had no reverend. The same year, a missionary, the Reverend Joseph de Mouilpied officiated at a wedding in Sorel. The bride is Abenaki and 50 members of the community attend the ceremony. De Mouilpied visits Odanak the following Sunday to preach there in French, thus proceeding to the usual three services. During the evening service, almost as many native Catholics as Anglicans are present. In the following years, the mission of St. Francis' Anglican Church was duly incorporated. In 1862, during the stay of Octave Fortin, the first resident missionary, the current Anglican church was built thanks to donations, in particular a contribution from Queen Victoria.
