Originally this was a crossing on the
The Siskiyou Line of the Souther Pacific RR. The
Central Oregon & Pacific currently operates this line from Eugene to Ashland. This crossing is interesting in that it has three separate styles of bridge in use. The first section is a
steel girder
, next is a
truss
followed by a classic
wooden trestle on the far side of the river. This railroad bridge can be viewed from several places including views from Highway 99 which parallels the tracks to the south and from a bike path which follows the river You can also get a great view and photos from Upper River Road on the opposite side of the river. I used a pull out on the road leading to Sam's Valley (Oregon 242) that gave a view from above the tracks.
