This relief of th ecoat of Authonomic State of Galician is in one side in the pedestal of one cross

"The shield of Galicia brings in field azure a chalice of gold plus a host of silver, and accompanied by seven crosses cut from the same metal, three on each side and one in the center of the head .

The timbre, royal crown , lined with gules , or red, closed, which is a gold circle, set with precious stones, composed of eight acanthus leaf rosettes , five visible, interpolated with pearls and from each of its leaves come out five added diadems of pearls that converge in an azure world, with the semimeridian and the equator of gold, added of a gold cross.

The reason that the shield contains seven crosses corresponds to the previous provincial division of the Galician territories of the old Kingdom of Galicia . The seven provinces were: Santiago , Betanzos , Mondoñedo , Tuy , Lugo , Orense and La Coruña (these last three of the same name as the current ones, although not with the same limits). Of these seven, Mondoñedo is currently within the province of Lugo ; Tuy within the province of Pontevedra; Santiago, the current capital of Galicia, and that of the city of Betanzos (which was independently and politically identified as an enclave differentiated from the rest) are part of the current province of La Coruña . Each ancient territory had a cross. The holy grail in the center represents the exceptional privilege of the Lugo cathedral to publicly display the Host or body of Christ. It must be taken into account that the first representations contained a variable number of crosses that over time was fixed at seven.

After the new territorial division of Spain in 1833, the Galician provinces modified their number and limits, leaving Galicia in the current four."
