In 1835 a one story Congregational Church was erected on this site. In 1897 the building was extensively modified into a two story structure by adding a chapel and remodeling the exterior to its present Colonial Revival style appearance. E.C. and G.C. Gardner were the architects for these changes.

The protruding façade of the church has four Ionic columns supporting the pediment. An ornate entrance is located between the second and third columns. The entrance is flanked by a two 4 by 6 multi-paned double hung windows, above rich are triangular pediments. The second level has a central Palladian window flanked by 4 by 6 multi-paned double hung windows with lunette above. The pediment contain a fan window. The sides of the protruding façade have windows on the lower and upper levels.

Rising from the top of the gable roof is a clock and bell tower with an an octagonal cupola with eight Ionic columns supporting a gold dome topped by a weather vane.

The sides of the main block of the church are four bays deep. The first bay has a single window mid-way up the side. The remaining three bays have small windows on the lower and large rectangular windows on the upper levels. The east front of the main block has an auxiliary entrance.
