The town of Blairgowrie lies in the eastern part of Perthshire in Scotland on the western bank of the River Ericht. The smaller town of Rattray lies on the opposite bank of the river, and the First World War memorial to the fallen of both towns can be found at the Wellmeadow in the centre of Blairgowrie in the middle of an open space garden area.

The memorial was unveiled on June 19th 1921 and was sculpted by Alexander Carrick. It features a tall tapering column topped by a stone sculpture of flames. At the base is an old Scottish soldier in great-coat and helmet resting on a rifle above a multi-stepped octagonal base.

On three sides of the column are bronze plaques containing the following 175 names, rank and regiments:
