In the year 2000, Canada issued a set of ten postage stamps for both domestic and international use featuring ‘fresh waters of Canada.’ Each stamp showed one or two bodies of fresh water found in a particular province. The stamp for Prince Edward Island shows the DeSable River along the southern coast and the St. Peters River along the northern coast.

The short DeSable River flows into the Northumberland Strait. The view on the stamp is from the Trans-Canada highway just west of the small town of DeSable.
