De spinnekop molen - Lag Keppel, Nl - Windmills on Waymarking.com

Laag-Keppel ligt in de Achterhoek, aan het riviertje de Oude IJssel tussen Doetinchem en Doesburg en heeft 580 inwoners. Het wordt een stad genoemd, omdat het in in 1404 – als Keppel stadsrechten kreeg.

Bezienswaardig is de oude dorpsstraat van het stadje die uitkomt op een watermolen aan de Oude IJssel. Sinds 1968 staat daar ook de in 1857 in Follega gebouwde Follega molen, van het type spinnenkopmolen, een poldermolen die functioneert als opmaler.

De Spinnekopmolen
De windmolen, afkomstig uit Follega, Lemsterland, Friesland, is een zgn. Spinnekopmolen. Deze werd gebruikt voor het bemalen van een polder. De molen bestaat uit de kop (bovenhuis) waarmee het wiekenkruis gedraaid kan worden. Van de kop loopt de koningsspil door een holle koker naar de ondertoren waar zich de overbrenging bevindt naar de vijzel.

De molen is genoemd naar zijn plaats van herkomst in de provincie Friesland.

Het unieke aan deze windmolen is dat deze is neergezet om de watermolen te kunnen laten functioneren.
