The inscription reads -
Near this Place
are deposited the Remains of the Revd
RICHARD BLAKE A.M.
(Rector of this Parish 31 Years)
who Died much Lamented 22nd Sept 1788
Aged 66 Years.
He was a Liberal Benefactor to the poor.
A sincere and steady Friend.
A vigilant and faithful Pastor.
From his mind replete with Knowledge
Flowed Instruction to all,
And his Heart equally Benevolent
Ever expanded the Gates of his
Hospitable Mansion.
To whose memory this Monument is Erected
by order of his affectionate Relation
HANNAH ATKINSON.
