Köinge church.
The church is believed to have been built during the latter half of the 13th century and had thick walls of natural stone and was externally whitewashed and lay oriented in the usual east-west direction. The actual church room was 29 cubits long and 12 cubits wide. This had been extended in 1537 with a chancel and sacristy on the eastern gable. In 1865, an armory was built on the west gable. The church lacked a tower, but instead had a free-standing belfry in the cemetery southwest of the church [1].

Before an extensive modernization in 1873 [2], the artist Severin Nilsson documented the church, and a painting of its interior from the time before this rebuilding of his hand hangs today (2011) in the church room [3]. The ceiling of the church was provided with pictures from the history of the Bible and there also hung a chandelier of wood [4]. In the middle of the 19th century, there was still a very high threshold between the coat of arms and the church, where new mothers fell to their knees to be "taken to church". Among the equipment can be mentioned the pulpit which was painted in gold, red, green, black and white on which i.a. stood "Aar 1589 S.A.B.". In addition, there is a Madonna image [5] carved in oak, along with some other loose objects [6]
