The municipality of Hindeloopen has had a doe in its coat of arms since 1355.
In the official description this is described as follows:
A shield containing a red prancing doe on a bed of greenery, crowned with a golden crown with three leaves and two pearls. This is the Coat of Arms used during the period 1818-1984.
Nowadays Hindeloopen is no longer a city on its own, it's part of the Sudwestfryslan Community.
