The first written mention of the village called Wesconewiz dates back to 1220, when Bishop Robert of Olomouc granted the Velehrad Monastery a tithe from the vineyards of Hustanovice. Originally, the village stood a little further east than today, in the Huštenuvka riverbed closer to the Morava river. A new settlement with an elongated village square was founded on a drier site in 1261-1320.
