Fourteen thousand years of Ninigret Park history are retold in a display near the north entrance to this 227-acre property. A current day map to the right side of the kiosk shows the You Are Here location. The left panel covers post-glacial recession indigenous residents, the Niantic and Narragansett nations, through World War II when the land was a Naval airfield. The center panel covers the 1970s and 1980s through present day.
A simplified, flat color layout of the park indicates YOU ARE HERE in red text above a white star within a red square in the upper third of the image. The rest of the amenities are labeled including sports fields, tennis and basketball courts, a disk golf course, bicycle course, the senior center, and the Frosty Drew Observatory.
