"L’hanno messa di fronte a un tema difficilissimo, rivoltante, drammaticamente sempre più attuale. Ma lei, Coquelicot Mafille, ha saputo analizzarlo e renderlo attraverso grande sensibilità e con una lettura del tutto inedita. “Riguardo al tema della violenza sulle donne – ha detto l’artista – ho voluto proporre un progetto il cui intento è mostrare la forza e la resilienza delle donne anziché sottolinearne l’aspetto di fragilità e di esclusione”.
E così è nata “La Danseuse”, l’opera che oggi campeggia nella città di Faenza, realizzata in collaborazione con le associazioni locali Distretto A e SOS Donna (centro contro la violenza alle donne) che proprio oggi compie 25 anni. “Per celebrare questo importante traguardo – dicono da SOS Donna – è stata scelta la significativa realizzazione di un’opera d’arte che fosse anche un regalo alla città: un murale a tema femminile, parte del progetto “Mai più donne con le spalle al muro”. Un’opera che potesse essere un riconoscimento del coraggio e dell’impegno che le donne accolte dal nostro centro antiviolenza in tanti anni di attività mettono quotidianamente nei loro percorsi di uscita dalla violenza. Volevamo che l’opera restituisse un’immagine di donna forte, libera e autodeterminata, nella quale tutte le donne potessero riconoscersi”.
Per farlo, è stata aperta una call rivolta solamente ad artiste: alla scadenza per la presentazione dei bozzetti, sono state 43 le proposte arrivate a Faenza dall’Italia e dall’estero. Una giuria composta dai rappresentati dell’Associazione SOS Donna e Distretto A, dalla proprietà dell’immobile ed alcuni consulenti esterni ha decretato la vincitrice del bando: “Coquelicot Mafille – dicono da Distretto A – ha saputo trasmettere la leggerezza e la forza di una donna che danzando rinasce. La proposta di Coquelicot è stata selezionata anche in relazione al muro ed al contesto in cui si sarebbe inserita ed oggi siamo felici ed orgogliosi di aver potuto contribuire alla nascita della quarta opera murale nel nostro Distretto A, questa volta, tutta al femminile compresa l’amica a cui appartiene il muro su cui è stata realizzata l’opera”.
E così Coquelicot descrive la sua opera: “Sullo sfondo di una maiolica del 1500, ripresa da una vaso tipico di Faenza, una donna danza, apre le braccia e il petto in un gesto di liberazione, come per lasciare andare tutto ciò che l’ha trattenuta fino a ora e si libra in aria, finalmente in solido equilibrio nelle nuove esperienze della sua vita. Insieme a lei, con lei, vola uno stormo di gabbiani”. L’opera è scandita da una poesia, “sei il vento e l’albero, sei lo stormo e la tempesta, la strega e la dea”: “In questa breve poesia – prosegue l’artista – vi è l’invito ad ispirarsi e a trovare sostegno nella qualità trasformativa, creatrice e rigenerante del vento, insieme a quella dimostrazione di solidità e costanza dell’albero, individuo che vive in comunità. Nell’immagine dello stormo e della tempesta, guardare all’energia della sorellanza, all’unione di esperienze e prospettive tra donne tutte diverse, sentire lo slancio e la giustezza di una lotta comune – di uomini e donne – contro le ingiustizie perpetrate dalla violenza maschile contro le donne e contro i diritti elusi dal patriarcato. Nominare la strega non è dispregiativo ma riguarda una figura saggia e colta di cui storicamente la
società patriarcale ha voluto sbarazzarsi ed è lanciata spesso come un’accusa e un insulto alle donne oggi giorno. La dea, perché possiamo solo che rivolgerci alle loro storie sempiterne per trovare il coraggio, la forza, la dignità, la via di fuga e di realizzazione”.
Ma come mai hai deciso di partecipare al bando? “È un tema di ieri, di oggi, di sempre – mi risponde – un tema che non può essere ignorato e su cui volevo dare il mio punto di vista. Ogni volta che si parla della violenza sulle donne non si dice mai la parola magica “maschile” e questo mi dà molto fastidio perché lascia vaghezza attorno a un tema che non è altro che quello della violenza maschile, di patriarcato, appartenente a una lunghissima cultura che ci portiamo dietro. Allo stesso tempo non volevo trasmettere la figura di una vittima, ma chiamare a raccolta tutta la forza, l’energia e la capacità di trasformazione che una donna sa avere dopo un atto così vile nei suoi confronti”." To do this, a call was opened for female artists only: by the deadline for the presentation of the sketches, 43 proposals arrived in Faenza from Italy and abroad. A jury made up of the representatives of the SOS Woman and District A Association, the ownership of the property and some external consultants decreed the winner of the tender: "Coquelicot Mafille - they say from District A - has been able to convey the lightness and strength of a woman that while dancing is reborn. Coquelicot's proposal was also selected in relation to the wall and the context in which it would be inserted and today we are happy and proud to have been able to contribute to the birth of the fourth mural work in our District A, this time, all female including the friend to whom the wall on which the work was made belongs ”.
And so Coquelicot describes his work: "Against the backdrop of a majolica from 1500, taken from a typical vase from Faenza, a woman dances, opens her arms and chest in a gesture of liberation, as if to let go of all that he has held back until now and hovers in the air, finally in solid balance in the new experiences of his life. Together with her, with her, a flock of seagulls flies ”. The work is punctuated by a poem, "you are the wind and the tree, you are the flock and the storm, the witch and the goddess": "In this short poem - continues the artist - there is an invitation to be inspired and to find support in the transformative, creative and regenerating quality of the wind, together with that demonstration of the solidity and constancy of the tree, an individual who lives in community. In the image of the flock and the storm, look at the energy of sisterhood, at the union of experiences and perspectives between all different women, feel the momentum and the rightness of a common struggle - of men and women - against the injustices perpetrated by violence male against women and against the rights evaded by the patriarchy. Naming the witch is not derogatory but concerns a wise and cultured figure whose historically she is

But why did you decide to participate in the call? “It is a topic of yesterday, today, always - she replies - a topic that cannot be ignored and on which I wanted to give my point of view. Whenever we talk about violence against women, the magic word "male" is never said and this bothers me a lot because it leaves vagueness around a theme that is none other than that of male violence, patriarchy, belonging to a very long culture that we carry with us. At the same time, I did not want to convey the figure of a victim, but to gather all the strength, energy and capacity for transformation that a woman knows how to have after such a vile act towards her ".

Sie konfrontierten sie mit einem sehr schwierigen, empörenden, dramatisch an Aktualität gewinnenden Thema. Aber sie, Coquelicot Mafille, konnte es mit viel Feingefühl und mit einer völlig neuen Lesart analysieren und wiedergeben. „Zum Thema Gewalt gegen Frauen – so die Künstlerin – wollte ich ein Projekt vorschlagen, das die Stärke und Widerstandsfähigkeit von Frauen zeigen soll, anstatt den Aspekt der Fragilität und Ausgrenzung zu betonen.“
Und so entstand "La Danseuse", das Werk, das heute in der Stadt Faenza steht, entstanden in Zusammenarbeit mit den Ortsvereinen District A und SOS Donna (Zentrum gegen Gewalt gegen Frauen), das heute 25 Jahre alt wird. "Um diesen wichtigen Meilenstein zu feiern - sagen wir von SOS Donna - wurde die bedeutende Kreation eines Kunstwerks ausgewählt, das auch ein Geschenk an die Stadt war: ein Wandbild mit einem weiblichen Thema, Teil des Projekts" Keine Frauen mehr mit dem Rücken zu Mauer". Eine Arbeit, die eine Anerkennung für den Mut und das Engagement sein könnte, das Frauen in unserem Anti-Gewalt-Zentrum in langjähriger Tätigkeit täglich auf ihrem Weg aus der Gewalt entgegenbringen. Wir wollten mit der Arbeit ein Bild einer starken, freien und selbstbestimmten Frau wiederherstellen, in dem sich alle Frauen wiedererkennen können“.
Zu diesem Zweck wurde ein Aufruf nur für Künstlerinnen eröffnet: Bis zum Einsendeschluss für die Präsentation der Skizzen trafen 43 Vorschläge aus Italien und dem Ausland in Faenza ein. Eine Jury aus Vertretern des SOS-Frauen- und Kreis-A-Vereins, der Eigentümerin der Liegenschaft und einigen externen Beratern hat den Gewinner der Ausschreibung ermittelt: „Coquelicot Mafille – so heißt es aus Kreis A – hat die Leichtigkeit vermitteln können und Stärke einer Frau, die beim Tanzen wiedergeboren wird. Coquelicots Vorschlag wurde auch in Bezug auf die Wand und den Kontext, in den sie eingefügt werden sollte, ausgewählt und heute sind wir glücklich und stolz, zur Geburt der vierten Wandmalerei in unserem Bezirk A beitragen zu können, diesmal ausschließlich weiblich einschließlich des Freundes, dem die Wand gehört, an der die Arbeit gemacht wurde“.
Und so beschreibt Coquelicot sein Werk: "Vor dem Hintergrund einer Majolika aus dem Jahr 1500, die einer typischen Vase aus Faenza entnommen ist, tanzt eine Frau, öffnet Arme und Brust in einer befreienden Geste, als wollte sie alles loslassen, was er hat bis jetzt zurückgehalten und schwebt in der Luft, endlich in solider Balance in den neuen Erfahrungen seines Lebens. Zusammen mit ihr, mit ihr, fliegt ein Schwarm Möwen “. Das Werk wird von einem Gedicht unterbrochen, „du bist der Wind und der Baum, du bist die Herde und der Sturm, die Hexe und die Göttin“: „In diesem kurzen Gedicht – fährt der Künstler fort – gibt es eine Einladung, sich inspirieren zu lassen und Unterstützung in der transformativen, kreativen und regenerierenden Qualität des Windes zu finden, zusammen mit dieser Demonstration der Festigkeit und Beständigkeit des Baumes, eines Individuums, das in Gemeinschaft lebt. Schauen Sie im Bild der Herde und des Sturms auf die Energie der Schwesternschaft, auf die Vereinigung von Erfahrungen und Perspektiven zwischen allen verschiedenen Frauen, spüren Sie die Dynamik und die Richtigkeit eines gemeinsamen Kampfes - von Männern und Frauen - gegen die Ungerechtigkeiten, die von männliche Gewalt gegen Frauen und gegen die vom Patriarchat umgangenen Rechte. Die Benennung der Hexe ist nicht abwertend, sondern betrifft eine weise und kultivierte Figur, deren historische sie es ist
Die patriarchalische Gesellschaft wollte es loswerden und es wird heute oft als Vorwurf und Beleidigung für Frauen ins Leben gerufen. Die Göttin, weil wir uns nur ihren ewigen Geschichten zuwenden können, um Mut, Stärke, Würde, den Weg zur Flucht und Erfüllung zu finden.
Aber warum haben Sie sich entschieden, an der Ausschreibung teilzunehmen? „Es ist ein Thema von gestern, heute, aller Zeiten – antwortet er – ein Thema, das nicht ignoriert werden kann und zu dem ich meinen Standpunkt darlegen wollte. Immer wenn wir über Gewalt gegen Frauen sprechen, wird nie das Zauberwort "männlich" gesprochen, und das stört mich sehr, weil es Unklarheiten bei einem Thema hinterlässt, das nichts anderes ist als das der männlichen Gewalt, des Patriarchats, der Zugehörigkeit zu einer sehr langen Kultur, die wir bei uns tragen. Gleichzeitig wollte ich nicht die Figur eines Opfers vermitteln, sondern all die Kraft, Energie und Wandlungsfähigkeit sammeln, die eine Frau nach einer so abscheulichen Tat gegen sie zu haben weiß.
