(visit link)

The new city center and the Casa del Fascio in Imola

The new city center was built in Imola between 1931 and 1938, demolishing some historic buildings overlooking the Via Emilia. It is a complex, which includes an imposing brick building and a large gallery - the work of the architect Giovanni Battista Milani (1876-1940) - which connects the Via Emilia and the large market square behind it.

Next to the city center, the Imola-based architect Adriano Marabini, a pupil of Edoardo Collamarini, built the Casa del Fascio in 1933, with the Torre Littoria that stands out on the Via Emilia.

The brick wall decoration in relief bears the inscription of the Decima Legio, that is of the Bolognese fascist federation. On the sides of the entrance there are two pillars decorated with bas-reliefs by Amleto Beghelli.

On the portal will be placed a plaque with part of the speech given in 1936 by Mussolini, on the occasion of the proclamation of the Empire.
