My Commentary:
The Mountain Home Fire Department website is just about the most complete website for answers about a Department that you would ever want. I will let it describe the actual functions of Main tation One.

The Building:
The staff area of the building is two stories with a metal entry door leading to the equipment bay and a pair of tall thin windows separated by a pillar to the left. The second floor has three double hung windows to the left of the pillar and four double hung windows to the right. There are three bay with overhead doors for the equipment stationed at Fire Station One,

The Department and Fire Station One:
About the Department:
The Mtn. Home Fire Department is a combination Career / Volunteer department led by Chief Kris Quick. The department consist of 26 career firefighters, 1 secretary, and 12 paid-per-call "volunteer" firefighters. The Fire Department provides Fire / Rescue services to the citizens of Mtn. Home and to the Mtn. Home Rural Fire District out of 2 manned stations and 1 reserve station, operating 5 Pumpers, 1 102' Platform, 1 75' Quint, 1 Heavy Rescue, 1 Mobile Command Center, 1 Confined space / Trench Rescue trailer, 2 Tankers, 1 Mobile Cascade Unit, 1 Brush Truck and 4 Support Vehicles.

Mtn. Home Fire / Rescue has a class 3 ISO rating. The new rating will lower the insurance rates for residents and businesses of Mountain Home. For those living outside the city in the Mtn. Home Fire District, then you will receive a class 4 if you live within 5 miles of a fire station.

The department constantly trains to keep up with the latest firefighting, medical care, and specialized rescue techniques. We offer many services to the community along with providing the following emergency services:

Fire Suppression
1st Responder to Medical Emergencies
Auto Extrication
Confined Space Rescue
High Angle Rescue
Swift Water Rescue

When not involved in emergency responses or taking care of things around the station the department is providing the following non-emergency services to the citizens of Mtn. Home:

Pre-Planning of Commercial Business
Fire Prevention and Education
Hydrant Inspections
Smoke Detector Installs / Checks
Fire Drills upon request
Free Blood Pressure Checks

Our department is dispatched through the 911 communications center which also dispatches all other Baxter County Fire Departments. This is helpful because most all county departments have automatic aid with at least 2 other departments for calls of structure fires, so this cuts down on time of re-routing calls and allows for a much faster and more efficient dispatch.

The Mountain Home Rural Fire District has automatic aid for structure fires outside of the city limits with Clarkridge and Buford Fire Departments. Each mutual aid department will respond with at least 1 tanker for water shuttle operations if required.

To set up a tour of one of the stations or to have a fire truck visit your school or business, call 870-425-2611 to request a date and time.
