In the Dutch National Railway Station in Utrecht, you will find this turntable and "roundhouse" (3 gates) to show the visitors how in the past locomotives were moved and stored.

According to the Railway Museum's website:
"There is a turntable on the outside area of the Railway Museum. It was built 80 years ago in the German city of Magdeburg. In the steam era (roughly until 1958) turntables were indispensable. After all, steam locomotives cannot easily reverse. To turn them, turntables were in use at workshops and locomotive depots."
