A Neo-Classical by Favrot and Livaudais, this 1928 bank has interesting ornamentation, including a frieze with medallions depicting different types of settlers of Calcaseiu Parish, denoted by their headware. The interior is just as impressive.

Favrot and Livaudias were prominent New Orleans architects. They were a favorite firm of Lake Charles, designing first the city hall and parish courthouse, then the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and this bank, in 1928. The three-story building is a Neo-Classical faced with limestone. The parapet is crowned by a large eagle with spread wings, a symbol of Calcasieu Parish. The frieze has medallions depicting the different types of settlers in Calcaseiu, denoted by their headware. Also notable are the heavy bronze doors, ornamented with lion’s head pulls.
The interior is just as well preserved and impressive as the exterior. The entrance has marble walls and leads to a grand banking hall with huge Corinthian pillars, designed to look as if they’re constructed of orange marble. Other details in the banking hall include the coffered ceiling, original chandeliers, marble counters, and ornamented bronze teller cages.
