DE: Auf der dänischen Insel Röm (Rømø) befindet sich bei Lakolk mit einer durchschnittlichen Entfernung von 800m bis zur Wasserkante einer der breitesten Strände Europas. Von Lakolk aus erstreckt sich der Strand etwa 7km in nördliche und etwa 5km in südliche Richtung, an der breitesten Stelle misst der Strand etwa 2.5km.

Der Hauptzugang des Lakolk Strand genannten Gebietes befindet sich am westlichen Ende der Straße Vesterhavsvej in Lakolk, durch den sehr kompakten Sand, der bis etwa 80m von der Wasserkante reicht, ist es möglich mit dem Auto bis fast an die Nordsee zu fahren. In den Sommermonaten (Mitte Juni bis Mitte August) gibt es einen ausgewiesenen Bereich, der von Rettungsschwimmern unter Beobachtung ist, sowie eine Toilettenanlage und einige mobile Kioske (zum Erwerb von HotDogs, Kaffee, Kuchen, Eis, etc.). Hunde sind auf dem Strand erlaubt, aber während der Sommermonate anzuleinen. Der Strand ist zwar rund um die Uhr zugänglich, kann aber gelegentlich zu Springfluten überspült werden, dementsprechend ist das Übernachten am Strand untersagt.

Durch den beständigen Wind, der von der Nordsee kommt, ist der Strand auch bei vielen Surfern beliebt. Am ersten Septemberwochenende findet zudem das Drachenfestival statt, bei dem sehr viele Besucher ihre vielfältigen Drachen steigen lassen. Ein paar auf der Insel beheimatete Reitställe machen zudem regelmäßig mit den Pferden Ausflüge an den Strand.

A few riding stables based on the island also regularly take their horses to the beach.
