"Anthering ist einer der ältesten Kirchenorte im Land Salzburg. Zur Zeit der ersten urkundlichen Nennung des Namens „Ad Antheringas Ecclesia“ (788) im Verzeichnis des Bischofs Arno bestand bereits auf den Resten einer Römersiedlung eine aus Holz gebaute Kirche. Es folgte um 800 eine karolingische Steinkirche. Um 1200 wurde ein romanisches Gotteshaus errichtet. Um 1300 entstand der romanische Turm, der heute noch steht und 1775 um „einen Stock“ erhöht und mit einem eleganten Zwiebeldach eingekleidet wurde.

Die Pfarrkirche, in der wir uns jeden Sonntag versammeln, wurde um 1450 errichtet, seine schöne spätgotische Vorhalle etwas später. Im Zuge der letzten großen Innenrenovierung kamen Teile der gotischen Originalfresken (Apostelkreuze, Verkündigung) und Arkanthusmalereien wieder zum Vorschein. Bildhauerische „Schmuckstücke“ sind der „Schmerzensmann“ in der Vorhalle und die Madonna mit Kind.

Die Antheringer Pfarrkirche ist der Mutter Gottes geweiht. Das Patrozinium wird am 15. August – Fest der Aufnahme Mariens in den Himmel (neugotisches Altarbild) – gefeiert. Der Pfarrhof stammt aus der „Mozartzeit“ (um 1785). Das vielseitig genützte Pfarrzentrum wurde 1988 errichtet.

Antherig ist erst seit 150 Jahren (1857) eine selbständige Pfarre. Sie gehört zum Dekanat St. Georgen. Nach dem neuen Diözesankonzept bildet sie mit Nußdorf und Oberndorf einen „Pfarrverband“.

Von den rund 3500 Einwohnern der Gemeinde sind 85 Prozent römisch-katholisch und etwa 3 Prozent evangelisch; der Rest gehört anderen Religionsgemeinschaften an oder ist ohne Bekenntnis." (visit link)

Anthering is one of the oldest church places in the state of Salzburg. At the time when the name "Ad Antheringas Ecclesia" was first mentioned in a document (788) in the register of Bishop Arno, there was already a wooden church on the remains of a Roman settlement. A Carolingian stone church followed around 800. A Romanesque church was built around 1200. The Romanesque tower was built around 1300 and is still standing today. In 1775 it was raised by "one floor" and clad with an elegant onion roof.

The parish church in which we gather every Sunday was built around 1450, its beautiful late Gothic vestibule a little later. In the course of the last major interior renovation, parts of the original Gothic frescoes (Apostle crosses, Annunciation) and arcanthus paintings came to light again. Sculptural “pieces of jewelery” are the “Man of Sorrows” in the vestibule and the Madonna and Child.

The Antheringen parish church is consecrated to the Mother of God. The patronage is celebrated on August 15th - the feast of the Assumption of Mary (neo-Gothic altarpiece). The rectory dates from the "Mozart period" (around 1785). The versatile parish center was built in 1988.

Antherig has only been an independent parish for 150 years (1857). She belongs to the Deanery St. Georgen. According to the new diocesan concept, it forms a "parish association" with Nussdorf and Oberndorf.

Of the approximately 3,500 inhabitants of the community, 85 percent are Roman Catholic and around 3 percent are Protestant; the rest belong to other religious communities or are without a denomination.
