This chapel, located by the road on the approaches to Alandroal, was built in unknown date, but definitely in the 16th century. It changed along time. In the 18th century there were some deep works which changed the look of the chapel.
Its dominant architectural stile is a Portuguese variation of Gothic, the Manueline, which introduces decorative elements evocative of nautical themes.
Inside, the murals are impressive. They were painted in 1722 and cover the whole walls of the chapel.
Attached to the chapel one will find the town's cemetery, which was moved from the center in 1884.
