In celebration of the 350th anniversary of the Town of Suffield, a barn quilt trail was established throughout the town. Some painted barn quilts are bases on traditional patterns and others are more modern in their design.
The "Giant Sun" barn quilt at opposite 107 Babbs Road was created by Helen Falkowski. The sun is depicted in shades of yellow and red against a blue background. In the center are three concentric octagons with yellow and red rays emanating from the perimeter of the octagon.
Your Visit:
The published directions are listed as 216 Babbs Road but to find this barn quilt you must go south 960 feet to a pair of tobacco barns on the east side of the road. The southernmost tobacco barn contains the "Giant Sun" barn quilt high up near the apex of the roof. The bright design really stands out against the dark brown of the tobacco barn.
