A foundation stone with years 1955 and 1971 engraved is located at the southeast corner of additions to a commercial office building in Downtown Providence, Rhode Island. Originally constructed in 1917 and named the Telephone Building, the main address of the Verizon Rhode Island Building is 243 Washington Street which is the oldest part of this eight-floor hi-rise. The facility has been the state headquarters of Verizon's Fiber Solutions Center since 2005.

Verizon Celebrates Opening of Providence, RI, Fiber Solutions Center

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Many of Rhode Island's top public officials and union leaders joined Verizon employees in celebrating the opening of the company's new Fiber Solutions Center (FSC). The center will provide Verizon's customers with the highest-quality support for all their broadband services provided over Verizon's new fiber-to-the premises network.

The new center, located at the company's state headquarters at 234 Washington St., supports Verizon's new fiber-based services, known as FiOS (FYE-ose). The center's staff handles calls from FiOS customers in not only Rhode Island, but throughout the region. Trained specialists answer technical questions and assist customers in correcting any problems...
