The fortifications were the first fixed defences of Darwin, built in 1932-34 to protect the naval oil depot. Remnant WWII features located around the East Point peninsula. The features include gun turrets, anti-aircraft battery sites, machine gun posts, Pee Wee's Camp, an engine room complex, a boom net anchorage point, boom net tower, a command post, two 9.2 inch gun emplacements and various concrete buildings and a number of underground structures.
