Fonte da Mesquita is a hamlet in the suburbs of São Brás de Alportel. The cross is locates in its main crossroad, point of confluence since centuries ago. On the same spot there is a wash house and well, and also a traditional house.
On the plot by the side of the house there is the cross, easily seen from the street, as it's placed by the wall. There is a plaque but it's very hard to read. Not only the engraved characters became affected by the weathering but also it's in archaic Portuguese.
The general sense is that the cross was placed in the 19th century by the grandsons of their deceased grandfather to honor him.
