In Portugal there are two sorts of hiking trails, the PR and the GR. This means, Pequena Rota and Grande Rota, which translate as Short Route and Long Route. Creating and keeping these trails is usually a task of the municipalities and in this case SBA is the acronym of São Brás de Alportel, a municipality in Algarve, the southernmost region of Portugal.
This route is also known as "Caminhos e Encruzilhadas de ir à Fonte" which translates as Trails and Crosses Leading to the Spring.
It's a 9 km circular route which leads the hiker trough old stone barriers and small hamlets. There is a bit of asphalt. It's an easy walk, mostly plain. Ideal in a winter day, when it can be sunny and the nature it's at its best, all green and plenty of water in the springs.
