En source Merimee:
The existence of a church from the Middle Ages seems attested by the many sarcophagi forming the enclosure in front of the western facade. In the middle of the 12th century and possibly before, it depended on the Archpriest of Chaunay. The current building was probably built at the end of the 12th century. The openings of the southern part were modified during the 17th century. The bell tower dates from the 18th century. The church consists of a single nave with three bays and a chancel formed by a semicircular apse masked by an altarpiece and preceded by a straight bay. The nave and the right bay are covered with a broken barrel vault. To accommodate the weight of these vaults, the north and south walls of the nave were internally lined by large blind arcades, a solution characteristic of a group of buildings in southern Poitou. The apse is covered with a bottom end. It is lit by a central bay underlined, inside as well as outside, by an arch supported by carved capitals, the only element of carved interior decoration. The only ornament of the western facade is the foliage and swirling capitals of the Saintonge-inspired door. Traces of red ocher wall paint appear in the lower part of the interior walls of the nave.

Fr source Merimee :
