"Schönhausen Palace (German: Schloss Schönhausen) is a Baroque palace, located in the Niederschönhausen district of Berlin. It is surrounded by a park in which the Panke river flows. Schönhausen is known as the residence of Elisabeth-Christine of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel (1715–1797), wife of King Frederick II of Prussia, and the official seat of Wilhelm Pieck (1876–1960), the first head of state of the German Democratic Republic.

Restored from 2005, the castle has been reopened to the public since December 19, 2009. It belongs to the Foundation of Prussian Castles and Gardens of Berlin-Brandenburg. "
