AY0930 - Z 82 - 1931 Benchmark - Boerne, TX USA - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

Either the city installed hew sidewalks or they widened N Main Street, but for whatever reason, this benchmark has been here since 1931. I'm grateful the construction crews made the effort to preserve the location and access to this old but pristine benchmark disc.

It is several yards south of the corner of Main Plaza formed by N Main Street and W Blanco Road intersect at Main Plaza Park. Visually it is hard to see the actually benchmark until you are right on top of it. However, it is very easy to see where it is located from quite a distance away. This is because there are four thick metal pipes standing at each corner of the small concrete monument in which the benchmark is embedded. These 3 foot tall pipes prevent wear and tear on the face of the disc by keeping pedestrians and bikes or skateboards, etc, from rubbing off the face of the benchmark.

The US Coast & Geodetiuc Survey benchmark is stamped as Z 82, and is dated 1931.
