This is a small, shield-shaped boundary marker inscribed ‘W. H. P. 1896’. It is one of a long series of similar parish boundary markers around West Ham Parish, several of which still survive. This marker is damaged in that at some point it has been infilled with cement, much of which still lingers.
The marker was placed here to mark the boundary between West Ham (to the south and west) and Cann Hall (to the north and east) parishes. Cann Hall was a relatively short-lived parish, formed from part of Wanstead parish in 1894 but abolished in 1956.

Set into the kerbstone on the east side of Cruikshank Road, E15. It is at the extreme north end of the road, outside No. 52.
