The Board School on Main Road in Kirk Michael was opened by the Island's Board of Education in 1894 and celebrated its 125th Anniversary in the 2019 - 2020 academic year. To celebrate the anniversary the School hosted a black-tie ball at the Park Hotel in Ramsey on Friday 19th September 2020. The Event was organised by the Friends of Michael School with all the funds raised going towards paying for extra-curricular activities and resources.
The School opened in its doors in its current building on Friday 16th November 1894 when 117 pupils attended.
The date the 'Board' School opened is shown in high the front elevation roof gable of the building and as the following simple inscription.
'BOARD SCHOOL
1894'Later extensions to the original building were added as the school expanded and now occupy most of the site with original building now only being a small part of the School.
