Over het gebouw 'Oude Raadhuis':
Het Oude raadhuis is een rijksmonument in de Nederlandse plaats Naaldwijk uit het jaar 1561. In dat jaar schonk Willem Koorszoon grond voor de bouw van een gemeenraet of dynghuys. Het raadhuis werd voor het eerst gerestaureerd in 1632 en 56 jaar later voor de tweede keer. De tweede restauratie of uitbreiding was grondiger dan de eerste en bij deze restauratie werd ook het jaartal op de voorgevel (anno 1688) geplaatst. Rond het jaar 1852 is de hoofdingang verplaatst van het Wilhelminaplein naar de Herenstraat. Boven de toen nieuwe ingang werd een van elders afkomstige gevelsteen die Vrouwe Justitia afbeeldt ingemetseld.
De belangrijkste functie in de eerste eeuwen van het bestaan van het raadhuis was de rechtspraak.
In 1934 zijn de (familie-)wapens van het geslacht Van Naaldwijk (bovenaan), Frederik Hendrik (midden) en Willem III (onderaan) aangebracht. In dat jaar vond ook een gevelrestauratie plaats en zijn een viertal glas-in-loodramen aangebracht. Deze staan voor de verschillende aspecten van het gemeentelijke leven, zoals huwelijk, tuinbouw, de zorg voor ouderen en de geschiedenis van Naaldwijk.
In 1898 bracht koningin Wilhelmina een bezoek aan de gemeente en aan deze gebeurtenis herinnert nog een gedenksteen in de hal van het gebouw.

Naaldwijk (Westlands: Naluk/Nalek) is een plaats met 21.955 inwoners (2020) in de provincie Zuid-Holland en is de hoofdplaats van de gemeente Westland.
Naaldwijk ligt in het hart van de streek het Westland. De grootste economische motor is de glastuinbouw. In het naastgelegen dorp Honselersdijk zetelt de grootste bloemenveiling ter wereld, FloraHolland.
Tot 1 januari 2004 was Naaldwijk de hoofdplaats van de gelijknamige gemeente, die ook Honselersdijk en Maasdijk omvatte. Op 1 januari 2004 ging de gemeente Naaldwijk met de buurgemeenten De Lier, 's-Gravenzande, Monster en Wateringen op in de gemeente Westland door de gemeentelijke herindeling Westland. In Naaldwijk is het gemeentehuis van gemeente Westland gevestigd waar zich publieke zaken als loketten, sociale dienst etc. bevinden.
Ligging
Naaldwijk ligt in het westen van de provincie Zuid-Holland, ten zuiden van Den Haag. De plaats ligt in het centrum van de regio het Westland en de gemeente Westland. Ze grenst in het noorden aan de plaats Monster, in het oosten aan De Lier en Honselersdijk, in het westen aan 's-Gravenzande en in het zuiden aan Maasdijk. De grens wordt voornamelijk gevormd door natuurlijke waterlopen zoals de Poelwatering, Groote Gantel en het Zwethkanaal. Tot de voormalige gemeente behoorde naast het dorp Naaldwijk ook Honselersdijk, Maasdijk en het gehucht Mariëndijk.

Regarding the building 'Oude Raadhuis' (Old Town Hall):
The Oude Raadhuis is a national monument in the Dutch town of Naaldwijk from the year 1561. In that year Willem Koorszoon donated land for the construction of a commune or dynghuys. The town hall was first restored in 1632 and for the second time 56 years later. The second restoration or extension was more thorough than the first and during this restoration the year was also placed on the facade (anno 1688). Around the year 1852, the main entrance was moved from Wilhelminaplein to Herenstraat. Above the then new entrance, a gable stone from elsewhere depicting Lady Justice was bricked in.

In 1934 the (family) coats of arms of the Van Naaldwijk family (top), Frederik Hendrik (middle) and Willem III (bottom). In that year a facade restoration took place and four stained-glass windows were installed. These represent the various aspects of municipal life, such as marriage, horticulture, care for the elderly and the history of Naaldwijk.
In 1898 Queen Wilhelmina paid a visit to the municipality and a memorial stone in the hall of the building recalls this event.
