Wooden cross on the rock wiewpoint neear Sázava
Wooden crosses were erected in the Middle Ages and antiquity. However, these monuments could not be preserved in the field. The current wooden crosses are probably a maximum of one hundred years old, rather much younger. Wooden crosses were and are in place in place during decay or after extinction.
Most often, the cross marked a crossroads, land boundaries, boundaries of administrative territories of municipalities and of course, places of significant events, battles, misfortunes.
