[FR] Le château du Bosc, fondé en 1180, est une ancienne forteresse destinée à protéger la vallée du Viaur, qui fut détruite partiellement et reconstruite au xve siècle.

La terre du Bosc est restée, depuis les origines, dans la même famille, les d'Imbert du Bosc, officiers au service du roi. La famille s'éteint au xixe siècle et, par alliance, le château passe alors aux Toulouse-Lautrec. Il est transformé en maison familiale par la comtesse Gabrielle de Toulouse-Lautrec, la grand-mère paternelle de Henri, qui fait également construire la chapelle en 1880.

Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec y a passé une grande partie de son enfance et, plus tard, ses étés en famille. Le lieu porte la trace de ces moments de vie.

En 1901, le peintre Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec meurt sans descendance et la demeure revient à ses cousins, les Tapié de Céleyran, jusqu'en août 2016.

Le 12 août 2016, Nicole-Bérengère Tapié de Céleyran du Bosc, arrière-petite-nièce du peintre, décède à l'âge de 91 ans. Le Bosc sort définitivement de la famille, les actuels propriétaires n'ayant aucun lien de parenté.

[EN] The painter spent much of his childhood there and, later when adult, his summer holidays. This place has kept the print of these moments of life.

The castle is mentioned as far back as the end of the 12th century. The old fortress was first built to protect the Viaur valley from invaders. it was partly burnt and destroyed then rebuilt in the end of the 15th century.

The land of the Bosc has always remained in the same family, the d’Imbert du Bosc. They were all officers in the King’s service, and derived much of their power from a faithful support to the French monarchy. The male line of this family came to an end in the 19th century.

The castle then passed to the Toulouse-Lautrec family by marriage, and was transformed into a family home through the countess Gabrielle de Toulouse-Lautrec, the painter's paternal grandmother. The painter died without issue. The residence ended up to his cousins, the Tapié of Céleyran, until Nicole the painter’s great grand cousin died on August 12, 2016 at 91.
