There was already a waterwheel mill in Vierlingsbeek in 1446. It was renovated in 1531, 1672 and 1724. The mill was mainly used for grinding grain in periods when there was too little wind for the windmills.
The Kaanen family has owned the mill since 1845. Around 1930, he had a complete engine built. The retreating German troops destroyed the monumental mill house during the Battle of Overloon in September-October 1944.
Fortunately, the old paddle wheel and a large millstone have been preserved. The paddle wheel was restored in 1970 and has a diameter of 5.10 meters.
