Crewe is a town located in the borough of Cheshire East, 35 miles (56 km) south of Manchester and 15miles north-west of Stoke-on-Trent.

The name Crewe derives from an Old Welsh word 'criu', meaning 'weir' or 'crossing'. The earliest record of Crewe is in the Domesday Book, where it is written as Creu.

Crewe was a "tiny township with a few farms" until the Grand Junction Railway established a railway station there in 1837.

"Crewe is perhaps best known as a large railway junction and home to Crewe Works. For many years, it was a major railway engineering facility for manufacturing and overhauling locomotives, but now it is much reduced in size.
From 1946 until 2002, it was also the home of Rolls-Royce motor car production. The Pyms Lane factory on the west of the town now exclusively produces Bentley motor cars." (visit link)

Crewe is also home to Whitby Morrison, a family-run British engineering company founded by Bryan Whitby in 1962, and a world leading manufacturer of ice-cream vans. The purpose built factory located on the Crewe Gates Industrial Estate produces bespoke ice cream vans and associated vehicles for the global market. (visit link)

Crewe has a thriving live music scene, as well as a range of shops, bars, pubs and restaurants and the award winning Crewe Lyceum theatre.
Queen’s Park, is a traditional Victorian park that is being restored to her former glory.
'Crewe is also home to the famous Crewe Alexandra Football Club, that is aptly nicknamed the Railwaymen!'
