"Ce pont du 19ème siècle franchit la "Rouère"* de Frècul*. Il s'agissait d'un pont privé qui doublait le chemin rural passant par le ravin. Lorsque le ravin était inondé, le propriétaire imposait un péage à ceux qui ne pouvaient faire autrement que d'emprunter le pont.
En 1895, la municipalité de Pouillé loue le pont pour la somme de 66,66 F par an afin de le rendre public.
En 1907 est construite une voie qui enjambe la Rouère sans passer par ce pont privé.
* Le mot "rouère" désigne un ravin où se rassemblent les eaux de ruissellement. On trouve par exemple, dans l'Indre-et-Loire, la "Grande Rouère", ruisseau à Cheillé.
* Frècul : le vocable est assez fréquent. On trouve aussi Frescul, Froidcul, Froicul, Frécul. De "froid" et "cul", soit "fond frais"."
