" The site of the barracks was chosen very early on. As early as 1720, the royal engineer Claude Masse indicated the future location on his plan." place where one must build the Cazernes (sic) "near the fairground. Thirty years later, the work actually took place from 1752 to 1768, south of the Faubourg des Loges, near the “petite prée”, space available for military maneuvers. The first company to be welcomed was the regiment called “Royal Bourgogne” of the Marquis de Brissac.
The ensemble consists of the first dwelling covered with slate: a main building (reserved for the troops), and two lower wings (where the officers were housed). In the background, the "horseshoe" stables are covered with round tiles. The geometric and regular composition is that of a mansion "between courtyard and garden" typical of the 18th century. The facade adorned with a fore-body and the lower wings in return delimit the main courtyard preceded by a half Moon.
Only the sculpted decoration of the pediment (trophies, cannons, etc.) indicates the building's military function. The building has been vacated since 2008, following the sale in 2018 by the State, a project to redevelop the former military site is currently underway. "

" Le site de la caserne est choisi très tôt. Dès 1720 l’ingénieur royal Claude Masse indique le futur emplacement sur son plan. « place où l’on doit bâtir les Cazernes (sic) » près du champ de foire. Trente ans plus tard, les travaux ont effectivement lieu de 1752 a 1768, au sud du faubourg des Loges, proximité de la « petite prée », espace disponible pour les manœuvres militaires. La première compagnie accueillie est le régiment dit « Royal Bourgogne » du marquis de Brissac.
L’ensemble est formé du premier logis couvert d’ardoises : un bâtiment principal (réservé à la troupe), et deux ailes plus basses (où logeaient les officiers). En arrière-plan, les écuries en « fer à cheval » sont couvertes de tuiles rondes. La composition géométrique et régulière est celle d'un hôtel particulier « entre cour et jardin » typique du l8" s. La façade ornée d'un avant-corps et les ailes plus basses en retour délimitent la cour d'honneur précédée d'une demi-lune.
Seul le décor sculpté du fronton (trophées, canons…) signale la fonction militaire du bâtiment. L’édifice est innocupé depuis 2008, suite à la vente en 2018 par l’Etat, un projet de réaménagement de l’ancien site militaire est actuellement en cours de projet."
