[NL] Over het gebouw "Voormalig stadhuis Spijkenisse":
Het voormalige gemeentehuis aan het Julianaplein werd geopend in 1958. Toen al werd vermoed dat het wel eens spoedig te klein zou kunnen zijn. De stijl van de architectuur valt te beschrijven als enigszins historisch, teruggrijpend op de ‘Delftse School’.
Vreemd genoeg heeft dit voor de geschiedenis van Spijkenisse zo belangrijke gebouw (het is het laatst overgebleven jaren '50 pand dat onder architectuur gebouwd werd) geen enkele monumentale status. Niet als rijksmonument en zelfs niet als gemeentelijk monument. Het is in de stad dan ook slecht gesteld met de monumenten. De stad telt slechts 5 rijksmonumenten en geen enkel officieel gemeentelijk monument.
Over de stad Spijkenisse en haar gemeentehuizen:
Spijkenisse heeft niet één gemeentehuis, maar heeft er drie:
- het huidige gemeentehuis waar alle gemeente ambtenaren werken,
- het oude jaren ’50 gemeentehuis, waar tegenwoordig weer getrouwd kan worden
- en het eerste gemeentehuis aan het Noordeinde, waar tegenwoordig een kunstgalerij in gevestigd is aan het Noordeinde.
Aan het einde van de 17de eeuw, was Spijkenisse een bescheiden dijkdorp met zo’n 2000 inwoners. Zoals gebruikelijk in die tijd had de gemeenteraad haar overleg in de lokale kroeg. In Spijkenisse was dat Herberg de Keizer (bestaat nog steeds). Vanuit de kroeg is de gemeenteraad later verhuisd naar een schoolgebouw voor haar vergaderingen. Deze school werd in 1885 afgebroken en op dezelfde plek werd het eerste gemeentehuis van Spijkenisse gebouwd. Het gemeentehuis aan het Noordeinde werd ontworpen door architect Fop Smit uit Oud-Beijerland. Het pand is uiteindelijk gebouwd door timmerman C. van Dijk en metselaar C. Warnaar beide uit Spijkenisse, voor het bedrag van f2475,- gulden, hetgeen toen een behoorlijk bedrag was. Behalve ruimte voor de gemeenteraad deed het gebouw ook dienst als de veldwachterswoning. Dit gebouw heeft uiteindelijk dienst gedaan tot 1958, toen is de gemeente in het volgende gemeentehuis getrokken aan het Koningin Julianaplein. Het oude gemeentehuis aan het Noordeinde word momenteel gebruikt voor kunsttentoonstellingen en kunst educatie.
Omdat Spijkenisse snel groeide moest de gemeente vanaf het Noordeinde opzoek naar een nieuwe locatie voor haar gemeentehuis. De toestemming om dit gemeentehuis te bouwen liet echter zolang op zich wachten vanuit de Gedeputeerde Staten dat bij de ingebruikname in juni 1958 het gebouw alweer te klein was voor de gemeente met groei taak. Het gebouw heeft een historisch uiterlijk met bakstenen gevel en klokgevel en is gebouwd volgens Delftse School. Het is ontworpen door architectenbureau Meischke uit Rotterdam en gebouwd door aannemer Berghout uit Pernis. Het is in Spijkenisse één van de weinige overgebleven gebouwen uit de Delftse School en zeer zeker de meest opvallende. Tegenwoordig is het gebouw in gebruik als vestigingsplaats voor verschillende stichtingen en is tevens ook weer in gebruik als één van de trouwlocaties in Spijkenisse.

The former town hall on Julianaplein (Juliana Squre) was opened in 1958. At that time it was already suspected that it might soon be too small. The style of the architecture can be described as somewhat historical, harking back to the 'Delft School'.
Strangely enough, this building, which is so important to the history of Spijkenisse (it is the last remaining 1950s building that was built under architecture), does not have any monumental status. Not as a national and not even as a municipal monument. The city's monuments are doing badly in Spijkenisse. The city has only 5 national monuments and no official municipal monument.
About the city of Spijkenisse and its town halls:
Spijkenisse does not have one town hall, but it has three:
- the current town hall where all municipal officials work,
- the old 1950s town hall, where you can now get married again
- and the first town hall on Noordeinde, which now houses an art gallery on Noordeinde.
At the end of the 17th century, Spijkenisse was a modest dike village with about 2000 inhabitants. As usual at the time, the city council had its meetings in the local pub. In Spijkenisse, this was Herberg de Keizer (still exists). From the pub, the city council later moved to a school building for its meetings. This school was demolished in 1885 and the first town hall of Spijkenisse was built on the same spot. The town hall at Noordeinde was designed by architect Fop Smit from Oud-Beijerland. The building was eventually built by carpenter C. van Dijk and bricklayer C. Warnaar, both from Spijkenisse, for the sum of NLG 2475, which was a considerable sum at the time. In addition to space for the city council, the building also served as the field guards' residence. This building eventually served until 1958, when the municipality moved into the next town hall at Koningin Julianaplein. The old town hall at Noordeinde is currently used for art exhibitions and art education.
Because Spijkenisse was growing rapidly, the municipality had to look for a new location for its town hall from Noordeinde. However, the permission to build this town hall took so long from the Provincial Executive that when it was taken into use in June 1958, the building was again too small for the municipality with a growth task. The building has a historic appearance with a brick and bell gable and was built according to the Delft School. It was designed by the architects Meischke from Rotterdam and built by the contractor Berghout from Pernis. It is one of the few remaining buildings of the Delft School in Spijkenisse and certainly the most striking. Nowadays the building is used as a location for various foundations and is also used again as one of the wedding locations in Spijkenisse.
