[NL] Over het gebouw "Het Oude Raadhuis":
Dit opvallende gebouw behoort tot de 'Top 100 van de Rijksdienst voor de Monumentenzorg' uit 1990. In oorsprong is het een laatgotisch gebouw, dat dateert van het midden van de 14e eeuw. Na een brand in 1543 werd het ingrijpend verbouwd en werden vroegrenaissance elementen toegevoegd. De gevels zijn rijk versierd met pinakels, twee arkeltorentjes met spits en een balustrade. De bijbehorende Schepentoren heeft een vierkante onderbouw.
Ook het interieur is opvallend. De beroemde Schepenzaal is geheel opgetrokken in renaissancestijl, met eiken betimmeringen en banken van stadstimmerman Mr Vrederick. De rijkversierde zandstenen schouw is gemaakt door Colijn de Nole uit Utrecht. Rechts van de schouw is het schepengestoelte. In de rugleuning staan Charitas en Justitia. Erboven is een voorstelling van het Laatste Oordeel gemaakt door Ernst Maeler. Links van de schouw is een kast uit 1647 voor het zilver.
Een tweede zaal, thans gebruikt als trouwzaal, bevat neorenaissance-betimmering, met twee 17e-eeuwse banken en een 18e-eeuws wandtapijt. Verder is het gebouw voorzien van diverse schilderijen, waaronder portretten van stadhouders en vorsten van het Huis van Oranje.

Kampen is een stad in de Nederlandse provincie Overijssel en de hoofdplaats van de gelijknamige gemeente. De oude Hanzestad is gelegen aan de benedenloop van de IJssel, nabij de uitmonding in het IJsselmeer en het Keteldiep. De stad is gelegen op een riviereneiland en is alleen via kunstwerken bereikbaar.
Kampen ligt in Noordwest-Overijssel en is in dit gebied de grootste plaats. In 2019 telde de stad 36.400 inwoners. De oppervlakte van de stad bedraagt zo'n 11.39 km². De gelijknamige gemeente telt zo'n 54500 inwoners.

[EN] About the building "Het Oude Raadhuis":
This striking building is part of the 'Top 100 of the National Monument Preservation Service'. Originally a late Gothic building, dating from the mid-14th century. After a fire in 1543 it was radically renovated and early Renaissance elements were added. The facades are richly decorated with pinnacles, two arket turrets with spire and a balustrade. The accompanying Schepentoren has a square base.
The interior is also striking. The famous Schepenzaal is entirely built in Renaissance style, with oak paneling and benches made by city carpenter Mr Vrederick. The richly decorated sandstone fireplace was made by Colijn de Nole from Utrecht. To the right of the mantelpiece is the alderman's chair. Charitas and Justitia are in the backrest. Above it is a representation of the Last Judgment by Ernst Maeler. To the left of the mantelpiece is a cupboard from 1647 for the silver.
A second room, now used as a wedding room, contains neo-Renaissance paneling, with two 17th-century benches and an 18th-century tapestry. The building also features various paintings, including portraits of stadtholders (= governors) and princes of the House of Orange.
