Smokey Bear stands on the north side of Minnesota Highway 92 in Bagley, at the area headquarters of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources forestry division. The street address is 36452 State 92, Bagley.
This is a forestry field station, but no particular forest is indicated on the sign.
When I visited Smokey on Labor Day weekend, he was urging people to drive safely.
Smokey has noticeable mostly vertical gashes from his belt buckle up, a slash on one knee, and more damage around his ankles. His color is a bit faded.
