The current city hall was built in 1923 as a bank to replace a bank that burned in the Dec. 1922 fire which burned 32 blocks of downtown Astoria. In 1929, the Astoria Savings Bank failed and the building was foreclosed by the county in 1936. The city remodeled it for use as a city hall and moved in to it in 1938.
