The sculpture is a memorial against the war as a pacifist variant of the classic equestrian statue.

The plastic is made of painted steel with a height of 5.26m and a weight of 800kg.
In 1985 the work was exhibited for the first time in Göttingen and two years later it was bought and installed with public money and considerable donations. However, there were also many votes against the "repulsive corpse" at the time.
