Le payré is a small river that flows into the Atlantic Ocean at Talmont Saint Hilaire on the site of Le Veillon.
Old Ria; the Payre receives the salty waters of the ocean twice a day. In the Middle Ages, it was still possible for barges (small flat-bottomed boats) to come to the center of Talmont. The boats when they remained in the harbor of Payré, at the port of Guittiere. The only bridge that then crossed the river was the water bridge.

Le payré est un petit fleuve qui se jette dans l'océan atlantique à Talmont Saint Hilaire sur le site du veillon.
Ancien Ria; le Payre reçoit deux fois par jour les eaux salées de l'océan. Au moyen age, il etait encore possible pour des gabarres(petite barques a fond plat) de venir jusqu'au centre de Talmont. Les bateaux quand a eux restaient dans le havre du Payré, au port de la Guittiere. Le seul pont qui traversait alors la riviere etait le pont de l'eau.
