The gazebo is located in the middle of the historical Plaza on old town La Mesilla.

The gazebo has two flags: The American and Mexican and the number 54 written on it.

"The plaza and gazebo were refurbished in 1978 to better accommodate the residents and the growing number of visitors to the town"

The gazebo in the center of the plaza was torn down and rebuilt due to unnoticed structural problems that made the gazebo unsafe. Demolition started in October 2013 and rebuilding ending in May 2014 for the annual "Cinco de Mayo" celebration.
