A You Are Here map and info board on the village green, Church Lawford.

The map shows the surrounding area, and an information board tells a little about some of the places of interest nearby, such as:

The Village Green - "Church Lawford Village Green - The centre of the village, where you are now standing. The village stocks, long since removed, were located on the largest of the ‘islands' - under this island the village's, wartime, emergency water supply tank was located.
There have been a succession of native tree species on the green: Oaks, Elms and Horse Chestnuts, but the latest addition ‘Acer Negundo’, is native to North America.
A public house has overlooked The Green since the mid 1800s; now 'The Old Smithy’, formerly known as ‘The White Lion’."

Village Hall - "The Village Hall - Opened in 2008, the present hall replaced the original village community bullding, known as ‘The Reading Room (bullt In 1912) - The memorial in front of the hall commemorates those from the village who fell in the two world wars."

"St Peter's Church - First recorded in the late 11th C, it was completely rebullt in 1874 in the Gothic style - whilst retaining some of the 14th C features. It contains 17th C woodwork and a memorial dated 1612."

"St Laurence's Tower ~ This is all that remains of the 12th C church of St Laurence. In the 17th C it became the family chapel of the Leigh family, the Lords of the Manor and was handsomely decorated. Largely demolished in the 1790s, it was the final resting place of the Cavalier Sir Francis Leigh, Earl of Chichester, whose coffin, along with those of close family members, was disinterred in the 1850s revealing remarkably preserved bodies. Also disinterred was the body of a decapitated man who was most likely a casualty of the Civil War, serving In Sir Francis's regiment."
