"Tra il 1688 e il 1690 per desiderio della Confraternita dei Santissimi Rocco e Sebastiano fu costruita sul ciglio della strada che si dipartiva dalla “via imperiale” verso ovest (l'attuale via Mazzini) una piccola chiesa dedicata ai Santi dell'omonima Confraternita. Nel 1713, sempre per iniziativa della stessa Confraternita, si costruì sul lato sinistro dell'edificio un piccolo ospedale per gli ammalati della città.
Nel 1740 la chiesa venne demolita e stessa sorte subirono due case contigue per poter innalzare un nuovo edificio sacro, più arretrato rispetto alla prima costruzione. La nuova chiesa, due volte più estesa della prima, si configurava alla stregua di una piccola abbazia e fu consacrata nel 1769 dal Principe-Vescovo di Trento Cristoforo Sizzo. I “guardiani” della Confraternita, che si riunivano nell'Oratorio sopra la sacrestia, si preoccupavano di gestire il patrimonio della chiesa.
Nel 1780 l'edificio subì un restauro completo, con l'alzamento del vòlto e la costruzione del piccolo campanile.
Nel 1783, per effetto della riforma dell'imperatore d'Austria Giuseppe II, la Confraternita venne sciolta, i beni furono affidati alla Congregazione di Carità e la chiesa dedicata a Maria Lauretana. Durante l'invasione napoleonica l'edificio fu trasformato in ospedale. La presenza di quest'ultimo impedì la secolarizzazione della chiesa che nel 1897 fu affidata alla Fabbriceria di San Marco.
Nel 1920 i Padri Rosminiani rientrarono a Rovereto e ripresero a far funzionare la Chiesa che rimase di proprietà della Chiesa arcipretale di San Marco.

Between 1688 and 1690 by the desire of the Confraternity of the Santissimi Rocco and Sebastiano, a small church dedicated to the Saints of the same name was built on the side of the road that started from the "imperial road" towards the west (the current via Mazzini). In 1713, always on the initiative of the Confraternity itself, a small hospital was built on the left side of the building for the sick of the city.
In 1740 the church was demolished and the same fate suffered two adjoining houses in order to raise a new sacred building, more backward than the first construction. The new church, twice as large as the first, was configured like a small abbey and was consecrated in 1769 by the Prince-Bishop of Trento Cristoforo Sizzo. The "guardians" of the Confraternity, who met in the Oratory above the sacristy, were concerned with managing the patrimony of the church.
In 1780 the building underwent a complete restoration, with the raising of the vault and the construction of the small bell tower.
In 1783, due to the reform of the Emperor of Austria Joseph II, the Confraternity was dissolved, the assets were entrusted to the Congregation of Charity and the church dedicated to Maria Lauretana. During the Napoleonic invasion the building was transformed into a hospital. The presence of the latter prevented the secularization of the church which in 1897 was entrusted to the Fabbriceria di San Marco.
In 1920 the Rosminian Fathers returned to Rovereto and resumed operating the Church which remained the property of the Archpriestal Church of San Marco.
On the side of the altar of the Sacred Heart you can see an early Christian plaque from Rome, walled in the wall of the church.
