Eve Polastri works for Frank Haleton in MI5. She investigates a female assassin without permission and is sacked. MI6 take her on to track down the female assassin, Villanelle. In the course of the investigation Eve realises that Haleton is a Russian agent and that Villanelle is about to assassinate him. Haleton flees Villanelle and is saved by Eve. Later, after Eve has had a meeting with Villanelle, Haleton is killed by Villanelle. Both Eve and Villanelle have a fascination with each other and realise that they have hidden connections.
