[FR] "A la suite de divers signalements, dont un émane du vicaire général, Bruno Cornier, le curé de Saint-Etienne, Jacques Brun, conseille de tenir les lieux de cultes des paroisses de Saint-Etienne et Saint-Benoît fermés en dehors des temps de célébration ou de permanence pour les confessions durant les prochaines semaines. « Une décision qui n’a pas été prise de gaieté de cœur », nous a indiqué le prêtre.
La raison de cette préconisation est liée à la présence de migrants à Saint-Etienne. Des sans-abris qui avaient occupé illégalement la Bourse du travail puis l’université sur le campus Tréfilerie et qui furent délogés par les forces de l’ordre le 11 avril et le 15 avril.

Un message plutôt caricatural circulerait au sein du clergé indiquant qu'ils seraient pris en charge par des "membres de la jeunesse communiste extérieure à la ville" qui les inciteraient à squatter des lieux de culte. Une approche stigmatisante puisque le collectif qui s'occupe des migrants regroupe citoyens, citoyennes, membres d'associations et syndiqués stéphanois.
Quoi qu'il en soit, pour éviter toute intrusion, le clergé a pris la décision de tenir les portes des églises fermées. Ce tour de vis a d’ailleurs été précipité par deux incidents (l’un à l’église de la Nativité et l’autre à la Grande église). Mais rien ne prouve que ces deux incidents aient été causés par les migrants pris en charge le collectif."
