" Jusqu‘à la seconde moitié du 17ème siècle, les juges dinannais se rassemblent et officient dans la Tour de l’Horloge. Face à la multiplication des charges et offices de justice, le besoin d’un espace indépendant se fait sentir.

En 1677, les juges disposent de leur propre bâtiment. L ’Auditoire de Dinan est d’une extrême sobriété. La façade est seulement valorisée par la présence d’une petite place tandis que l’entrée n’est surélevée que par un modeste escalier.

Il faut noter également que cet édifice n‘était pas uniquement destiné à la Justice. Ainsi les magistrats devaient cohabiter avec la Régie du poids public, le bureau de la marque des toiles mais aussi avec le magasin des pompes à incendie ! C'est au premier étage que se tenait l’espace judiciaire.

Avec la Révolution, l'institution s’étend à tout le bâtiment. L' auditoire devient alors Palais de Justice et le restera jusqu’en 1827."

In 1677, the judges had their own building. Dinan's Audience is extremely sober. The facade is only enhanced by the presence of a small square while the entrance is raised only by a modest staircase.

It should also be noted that this building was not only intended for Justice. Thus the magistrates had to coexist with the Public Weight Board, the canvas mark office but also with the fire engine store! It was on the first floor that the judicial space was held.

With the Revolution, the institution extended to the entire building. The auditorium then became the Palais de Justice and remained so until 1827."
