There are historical references to the existence of this chapel in 1524. By the end of the 16th Century, perhaps even the early 17th Century, the building was renovated, keeping however its Mannerist style.
In the 18th Century there is a new intervention, restoring the decorative elements and bringing a touch of Baroque.
Nowadays it's part of a health unit run by Santa Casa da Misericórdia, where those with little or no chances of survival are kept.
